Debian documentation FOR newbies BY newbies (and not-so-newbies).
Debian GNU/Linux is a Free software replacement for operating systems like Windows and MacOS and their applications. You don't have to be a Debian newbie, or newcomer, to get help from the NewbieDOC site, but the documentation there aims to provide help at a level that Debian newbies will find useful. The documents address topics that Debian newbies often need help with.
Everyone who uses Debian GNU/Linux was a newbie once, even if they were not a beginner. Being a Debian user also means being part of the Debian and GNU/linux communities. If the community gives you help, giving help to others is a way of giving something back to the community. One way of helping others is to document your experience of successfully solving a problem. Debian NewbieDOC helps to make this easy because the Debian NewbieDOC website is is a wiki. Anyone can edit pages and create new ones.

To create a cheap, easy to copy and reproduce, freely distributable Debian starter pack with live CD, installer and easy to follow documentation. The aim would be to get copies into public libraries, school libraries, academic libraries, etc, as well as giving Debian users and event organisers something to pass on to others by hand. The starter pack should make it clear that copying and redistribution of both documentation and CD is allowed and encouraged.
